To Tatya with Love
( This I wrote on 12th august 2012)

When Rajesh Khanna died I happen to see the wonderful movie "Bawarchi"
and when Rajesh Khanna uttered the seemingly lucid but extremely powerful statement
It is so simple to be happy, but so difficult to be Simple"
I realised that it gives answer to the eternal problem of the mankind struggling to find happiness in life.

Well I don't have to look beyond my grandpa(TATYA) who for me is the happiest person on earth! He is Someone  who epitomizes "Joie de vivre" a French term often used in English to express a cheerful enjoyment of life or an exultation of spirit.
Tatya has never owned any house, land, property, car, jewellery, designer watches or clothes..
nor did he switch any jobs, take a challenging role or a powerful role .
All these things definately make us good and are necessities in today's life but are these key to attaining true happiness or "inner peace"

Tatya makes us realize that true happiness lies in the simple joys of life which we all forget or rather overlook..precisely why being simple is so difficult!

Happiness lies in walking and greeting people/strangers you have never met with smile on the road,

Happiness lies in giving tiny tots a toffee every day,

Happiness lies in feeling good after solving a crossword puzzle

Happiness lies in cracking jokes, narrating stories-tragic, exciting or humorous any kind with style!

Happiness lies in remembering each person's name you have met in life and reminiscing the sweet memories shared with them

Happiness lies in reading a name in paper, calling up 10 people in directory to find out if he is the same person you know and then talking for hours!

Happiness lies in discipline, getting up at 5 and enjoying your tea every SINGLE DAY..

Happiness lies in enjoying and savoring the simple varan, bhaat, bhaji poli you eat everyday..

Happiness lies in keep writing inland letters, postcards, aerogram without expecting the other person to respond!

Happiness lies in desire to meet new people every day and making friends irrespective of caste, creed, sex, region, position wherever you go!

Happiness lies in being playful even at the ripe old age of 95!
