I have been following Roger Federer since his junior days.  RF 1.0 was brash arrogant temperamental and very aloof..he was very animated on court ..then he realised he doesnt have to change his game...he knew he was the best ..he just has to control his inner demons and control his aggression.. RF 2.0 demolished everyone who came his way.. Yes he didnt win french but won everything else..he was at the peak and there was no one even attempting to climb least challenge especially on grass... Then came the 2008 wimbledon ..the day i will never forget...Best Match of tennis I have seen.. He lost to nadal..in a wimbledon final..Then suddenly djokovic arrived...he started losing in big matches..something he was not familiar with..the australian op en final and the tears shed showed his vulnerability..Everyone hates to lose but for him ithat loss was earth shattering..Del potro also beat him in final Fed 3.0 was like Sachin is his twilight years.. people never stopped worshipping him ...

Life gives probability lessons

Image
Probability is a tough cookie to crack. Sometimes actual incidents make you curious and makes you wrack your brain and revise your probability lessons. Like the famous incident of Thomas Hardy spotting a taxi number while playing cards yesterday something happened which made me wonder and calculate the probability of what had transpired after the events took place. Let me replay the exciting turn of events !! There is a game called 5 3 2 played in 3 players who 10 get cards each After a game is over if you make more hands than your designated ones you get to choose that many cards from opponents cards next time So here is turn of events Game over I made 5 ( had to make 2) while my opponent made 2( had to make 5) so I got to pick 3 cards from opponents before next game starts Game 2 begins cards are shuffled and opponent gets her 10 cards and gets a chance to see them if they want to arrange in any order and keep them down . Chance 1. I call out a random number 3rd f...

ToTatyawithLove- Tale of chainsmoker to nosmoker!

Have been an active passive smoker throughout joining my friends on sutta break. In one of the discussions on quitting came a thought that sometimes an external trigger or circumstances end up with people giving up their addiction which otherwise proves difficult. ! This made me think about my Grandfather who shared with us how he went from being a chain smoker to quitting completely one fine day. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------ Tatya ended up in Shimla as an English Babu in 1939 as a 20 year old from Dewas(MP) and started his journey to and fro between summer and winter capitals (Delhi/Shimla). Those were the glorious days of living life king size in the new capital city ! He used to fondly tell how weekends were spent sometime watching 3 english movies in a single day at regal plaza and odeon seeing Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable and Ava Garnder puffing away to glory ! Tatya took up smoking and soon became a chain...

To Tatya with Love  ( This I wrote on 12th august 2012) When Rajesh Khanna died I happen to see the wonderful movie "Bawarchi" and when Rajesh Khanna uttered the seemingly lucid but extremely powerful statement It is so simple to be happy, but so difficult to be Simple" I realised that it gives answer to the eternal problem of the mankind struggling to find happiness in life.  Well I don't have to look beyond my grandpa(TATYA) who for me is the happiest person on earth! He is Someone  who epitomizes "Joie de vivre" a French term often used in English to express a cheerful enjoyment of life or an exultation of spirit. Tatya has never owned any house, land, property, car, jewellery, designer watches or clothes.. nor did he switch any jobs, take a challenging role or a powerful role . All these things definately make us good and are necessities in today's life but are these key to attaining true happiness or "inner peace" Tatya mak...
