As the DOCC comes to its fag end..I thought of listing down a few fundamental learnings for posterity!.here they go !

Thy shall plan NOT TO PLAN!(dedicated to 11 people including 2 Banjaras whowere being tossed all around HP & UTTARANCHAL
Thy shall be prepared for anything .like having the loo in the lush green jungle without a bolt and encountering maggie bhoot( This is for KHUNDIA which would find a place in Lonely planet some day)
Thy shall keep a soft jacket for CYA! (dedicated to certain Gulab Jamun hogging freak)
Thy shall not send SMSs when you have paise/second call ( dedicated to an individual who is really YAKKY)
Thy shall carry an additional baggage of clothes, you know never where the other one disappears!( dedicated to the ultra terrestrial)
Thy shall learn our mother tongue you never know when you have to give a presentation in Hindi) ..dedicated to duo who do not forget the good morning gentlemen before every presentation
Thy shall be ready to explore new places (Dedicated who trio who escaped from a conference and discovered the state museum( closed), awesome cafe( being renovated) and showed people snow for the first time in their lives
Thy shall HOG with frequent dosage of Pelu Pakodas, Momos, Ganne ka Jucice, Munch( 30% extra) etc etc
Thy shall always have their woolens ready ( you never know when barren mountains miraculously turn into glaciers)
And most important off all ( from work point of view)Thy shall do only and only

Having finished 3 months of MBA i am wondering whether there has been any "Value addition" in me..!hmmmmmmmmm... Life here at SPJIMR has been quite confusing to be honest. The initial euphoria of having got admitted into a top 10 B school has fizzled out.People have already started doing their "opportunity Cost". One important aspect everyone harps about in favour of MBA education is "Diversity". Well in the last 3 months i have met 180 odd "diverse" people.."diverse" work profiles...but are we translating that diversity into anything concrete!!..hmmm... People who slog continue to slog..people who are gas reservoirs increase their production and the fucchas or dudwaas as we call them keep the adrenalin pumping for the sake of fairer sex..And for myself...i still can't manage myself..Life seems a blur!!...

Mumbai police released the pix of the terrorists who were killed during the mumbai terror attacks... Besides Ajmal Karim ,the canary bird caught by the police ,9 other terrorists were eliminated. As per the police release today,8 terrorists pictures were released and ninth one was unavailable. subsequently with the help of yours truly,this also was made available: Incidentally Aatmesh (3rd row extreme right) celebrates his 23th birthday day after Happy Birthday in advance Dear Roomie!!!....Your gift is on your way:) Cheers!!!!

As the war on Mumbai goes on,my blogging instincts have managed to make a comeback.

Refraining from any jingoism or "a certain community" bashing.I will rather talk bout people's behaviour after terror attack.The media always highlights about the "spirit of mumbai" but Mumbai hasn't been the only city been affected by terrorism.Delhi,Jaipur,Ahmedebad and the list goes on.Unlike other cities,Mumbai has local trains which are filled up without fail,terror no terror and that automatically feeds the CNN IBNS,NDTVS of the world,the masters at this game. They talk about how the city "gets back on tracks".(Pun intended)So what message do the empty local trains convey this time around??..You needn't be Barkha Dutt to decipher this--"The city's way of expressing their commiserations for the victims".Bullshit.They are just scared!! I have no malice towards Mumbai or its people.My rants are specifically targeted towards media of our country who thrive and as some cynic would say "look forward to" such attacks. It is as horrific as the attack,if not more to see buffoons(sorry Javed Bhai) like these two talk about the so called "spirit of mumbai".Moreover,we can only talk about spirit if there is an unanimity in people's behaviour post attack.

Some people say that they have become tolerant and have replused fear by instilling courage.Some say that terrorism has become part of our lives.Some just dont care and carry on with their mundane office work.There are some who say "Isme kya hai yeh to roj ka hai" and there are some who want the opportuniy to exhibit their latent Sunny Deol like abilities: http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=2yXZmboTSLI and there is someone like me who makes his baggage even more heavy. I took my grandfather to a photo studio to get some prints from a pen drive. The entire journey was about futile attempts to make him aware about digital cameras,pen drives,cell phones and their functioning.Finally When i reached the shop i saw this,tucked in cupboard out of sight and a chuckle followed.

Wondering why on earth would anyone want to buy this,i got a little nostalgic as this was my first and the last camera.KB10 gave way to cellphone with camera.Thinking bout the latest 10 Mega pixels,X zoom,red eye effect blah blah i realized that KB10s have their own charm!

I recollected those numerous fights,banter and leg pulling during the photo sessions with friends and relatives.After all seeking answers for the question : where whose and which pics to be taken was a real nightmare! The answer hinged on the number 33 (or sometimes 34) and in the good old days when India wasn't shining as brightly,carrying multiple rolls was a luxury few could afford.

The trip euphoria use to subside once the vacations were over,only to gather steam once we got hold of the pics and negatives.The entire gamut of emotions were on display and the photo viewing occasion use to be as joyous as the trips.The fact that the limited pics could be taken use to make people conscious about their looks and invariably the pics use to come out well and majority of us would feel that they are miss or Mr photogenic:).I suddenly wished that i could press F11 and run the slide show of all those pictures in those sweet little albums!!. That made me realize that deep down inside us, we all would want to get our KB10s back and set off on some trip..For :

A KB10 picture is worth not just 1000 words,but as much as the Mittals and Gates of the world!!

Since 2 months,Sunday mornings mean performing the herculean task of getting up early and be on time to write the mock cats.And once you enter the room u feel like u have entered some one's funeral.The room atmosphere epitomizes the "PIN drop silence" which our poor primary teachers wishfully expected from us.Every one of us(including myself) wait so impatienty and restlessly for the paper to come.(just to blurt out **** MockCats statement some days later).This sunday was a pleasant surprise and the room atmosphere was quite cheerful courtsey 2 guys n a gal,welcome change from the usual hush.Here goes their conversation:

Guy1 to Gal: So is this the first time you are gonna write cat?

Gal: Yes, Ist ever Mock cat 2

Guy 1 and Guy2:

so how do you feel about bout the paper?tough easy?

Gal: cracks some stupid PJS about cat paper n then ..

Guy1 :Whats wrong with you!!!!

Gal:Well isnt this suppose to be MOCK CAT!..thats wat m doing !.. nyways how many CAT attempts for you yaar..

Guy1:Stopped count yaar ..i have been writing this bloody mockcats since UPA Government is in power..!!!(sheepish laughter follows)....i hope my luck changes soon with the government

Guy2:(with feel sorry for me expression):I have been writing since Vajpayee Days man!!...

After the initial enthu of writing blogs,i went into into a blogging hibernation.What stirred me to write sumthing,albeit few lines was the release of "RAM GOPAL VERMA KI AAG"

Being a avid film lover, i am among the zilions of fans of hindi cinema who are ready to vent out their anger at this shameless cinematic rape of all time classic Sholay.The blogosphere is full of reviews to be read on this dud ,nuthin better than this one on a really cool blog called greatbong: RGV KI AAG-the review

Once upon a time Ram Gopal Verma was a venerated filmaker known for making outstanding cinema,right from his debut movie Raat(masterpiece in Bollywood horror Genre),Shiva(An outstanding narrative of student politics and violence) ,Rangeela(You know it!), Satya(You know this too) or more lately even Sarkaar(a sincere dedication to Godadfather

Today,even those Z grade Ramsay horror flicks like chuadail ki raat,kabristani haveli blah blah look like masterpice in front of his movies.(buddha mar gaya would be more paisa vasool than darling) .They never made any tall claims about making a comprehendible cinema anyway!!..

RGV seems to be making a point to direct trash after trash ,more rotten than his previous works.I suggest Ram Gopal Verma who started off as a video library owner a new proffession.He would be better off using his factory to have mass production of scrap…he isnt doing a bad job at producing it..…..

I wish that he stops selling it on the silver screen..

Making cost cutting more profitable...

Over last few months the employees at my organisation have been at the recieveing end of various logistics decisions being taken (read cost cutting) .All this came into forefront today when the strategy meeting for our team transformed into a a verbal ding dong and everyone lent out their dissatisfaction at these cost cutting measures.Everyone had their say and suddenly the drab meeting came alive.All the zombies like me who were just patiently listening to the usual managerial jargon thrown at us jumped out of our places when the meeting digressed into discuss this.Seeing tt rooms being made into a makeshift workplaces, no dinner for people staying late etc etc are a few examples of these.Taking a cue from them, we started cracking jokes at possible measures in future.The cafterias would actually reside the new joinees,the car parking areas would soon be made the server and mainframe.The coffee vending machines would be containing single tonned milk,Switiching off the ACs during the day....Gosh ..what's scary is that some of them mite even get implemented.The issue of cost cutting has to be balanced to meet employee satisfaction and at the same time imroving company's margins. Taking an emotional stance cannot be justified on the grounds that we forget that the very existence of our jobs is a byproduct of cost cutting measures taken somwhere on this planet so we have to be reasonable to question the company's actions.The organsiation can do their bit to involve employees in decision making and having their feedback to formulate cost cutting measures.Collecting the actual data and surveys from employee on facilities required by them and which are secondary to them can bring in positivity ,if not any tangible solutions.That way the employee can themselves propose cost cutting ways(sounds paradoxical) .That would mean a whole lot of ideas and suggestions,however bizzrre they might be.Like one below:) My Cost cutting proposal : Disposing off all the coffee and tea vending machines and substituting that with a nook residing the nukkad ka chaiawala :).

The weather in Delhi has been awesome all tis month.....rains rains n more rains ..... There was no sign of the dreaded loo and the freakish weather reminded me of the mausam back in b'lore...Was just thinking bout the implications tis freakish weather wod gonna have....it wod be catastrophic for school kids as summer vacations would cease to exist.,who would wana go n clog the hill stations if u can njoy the suhana mausam rite in your verandah!!.....the sales of soft drinks would fall drastically ...geography books would have to be rewritten....these are definitely the signs of winds of change( pun intended).See fig (a).... Well after a self imposed break from blogging , i am back.Last few days a rather credulous remark from delhi CM has irked the dilliwalas.Her chide at the biharis and UP walas and linking them to the bulging population of the city has raised many an eyebrows. The question to be asked is does any1 in the first place has right to be called delhi ka beta or beti?...Lemme take my own case...Sumukh Herlekar...the moment my fellow delhi walas hear this "KAR"...oh k herlekar--->tendulkar-->gavaskar...tum to maharahstra ke ho yaha kya kar rahe ho??.some bannerjee or Balasubramaniam would surely empathise with me...how do i react .... feel puzzled as well as annnoyed,when some kapoor or chabbra or some gupta asks me this!! arnt the punjabis named after punjab!!!!..or the tectonic plates movement has shifted it to sumwhere near lajpat nagar!!..3 generations of herlekar khandan have been born n bought up here in Delhi so we feel we have the genuine right to swear by the delhi ki sardi as well.Leaving aside personal rants, We can trace back the city's history zillion years back and yet we wouldnt have a clear answer to who can claim to be the city's aborogines. Mumbai , and now a city like bangalore have also had the native population up in arms against the migrants.If a mallu(Disclaimer: Use of slang is not ment to hurt the sentiments of the community) shridharan can build a world class delhi metro courtsey the hard work put in by migrants( read from Bihar and Upwalas), the city takes immense pride.Dont we????.... What plagues the people in indian metros is the narrow outlook and the inability to have a collective effort to make city flourish. So all Thackery's Dixits,Khans,kapoors,Aggarwals,Chatterjees,Patels,Yadavs,Nairs,Das etc etc ...stay in harmony and make a city better place to live in. I had always kept myself miles away from anything to do with philosophy. The compelling disinterest was that i found the topic really absurd. Few days back was at a cousin's place alone and was finding passing time an arduous task as there was a power cut The huge collection of books looked too voluminous for me to arouse an intrest. Just glancing through the shelf i happen to find a tiny little book by Albert camus. I knew Camus fleetingly as an answer to a erroneous trivia qn floating around of a nobel laureate captaining a WC football team.Being ignorant of the fact that Camus is known for his philosphical works, i started reading it.Few hours later philosophy no longer seemd to be absurd....

The reviews had given thumbs up 2 Bheja fry prompting me to watch it over the weekend.The same reviews had pointed out that the movie is a remake of the french movie Le Dîner de cons For long the debate on plagiarism in Indian Cinema has been raging and i would chip in my thoughts on it.The indian audience has been fed the same staple dose of mediocre cinema for decades.Hackneyed love stories,dishum dishum crap,the run of the mill stuff. If a movie like bheja fry comes and gives the audience something different,then so be it!!..The purists would dwell on the ethics and point out the lack of originality prevalent in our cinema.Plagiarism is a global phenomenon and we are not the only culprits.Firstly,how many of us would have actually seen the french movie anyway!!..probaly few connoisseur of cinema in some stupid film festival.As long as it makes a direct dent into the revenues or sale of the original stuff,it isnt as sinful as its made out to be.These adaptations of Foreign cinema and literature would actually infact initiate curiousity among us to explore it. Omakara and Maqbool are classic examples of Shakespearean work being adapted beautifully in indian context. The audience is just intrested in savouring the delicious cinema being showcassed to it and doesnt give a damn from wherever it has been flicked.Period.
